Terry products usually have a shorter lifespan than sheets, due primarily to their use for things other than bathing.
Terry / Towels – this category has its issues starting with laundry care. Typical laundry issues include:
- Overloading washers – the machine cannot properly rinse detergent, bleach, and softeners.
- Overloading dryers – promotes higher heat levels and “bakes” the excess chemicals onto the terry causing it to be rough with harsh hand-feel.
- Use of the terry as a cleaning rag for shoes etc…..
- Stains from makeup, body creams, tanning oils etc…. Cotton absorbs, but these stains are hard to get out. Stain-removing chemicals are harsh and weaken the cotton elements in terry and sheets, which takes away life from both.
Typical Trend in properly cared for terry products:
Bath Towels: 100 – 120
Hand Towels: 60-70
Wash Cloth: 25-30
